Luke Dennison hopes he can claim the number 1 shirt at Longford Town
LUKE DENNISON hopes his taste of full time
the environment can help him be Longford’s full-time number 1.
He spent the last year on loan at Galway United, opting for the move as he was behind Lee Steacy and Mick Kelly in the pecking order at then Premier Division Town.
Dennison, 25, said: ‘I spoke to John Caulfield he needed another keeper so I thought it worked perfectly, they are full time and I couldn’t really pass that up .
“And I really enjoyed my time, I played four or five games and maybe five friendlies, so I got playing time.”
And he feels his year of full-time training has helped him as he now battles with Steacy for the first-team shirt at Longford this season under new boss Gary Cronin, with Cobh Ramblers first at home when the relegated side opened the first division on Saturday. .
Not knowing who will play, he added: “We are both going to have to be ready to go on Saturday.
“It will be a difficult season, we are here to win and we expect no less.”
