Despite the ongoing lockdown, new MLB Spring Training 2022 hats have found their way into stores. While we probably would have gotten a glimpse of the design a little over a week ago when pitchers and catchers were originally supposed to report, the hats became available in stores and online stores today.

This year’s spring training cap has two major changes from past years. First, the 2022 hats feature a new mesh back. The second is a new logo.

For the past few years, the Chicago White Sox have used the 1983-style Batterman logo as their primary spring training logo. While normally red, white and blue in the 83 version, the Spring Training version featured a black and white makeover.

This year the South Siders released an ode to the 1917 World Series home jersey logo.

Similar to the 1983-style Batterman logo, the 1917 logo gets the White Sox’s current black and white color makeover, and it looks really awesome. While the Sox have used the 1983 jerseys for the past few seasons as Sunday substitutes, it will be interesting to see if the new Spring Training logo hints at a different red white and blue alternate jersey in the future.
