The jersey Reggie Jackson wore when he hit one of baseball’s most famous home runs 50 years ago this summer is one of the featured items at SCP Auctions’ Summer Premier, which opened on Wednesday. The Oakland A vest-style jersey features Jackson’s autograph on the front and is expected to sell for $ 250,000 or more when auctions close next month.

The jersey was on Jackson’s back when the young slugger hit a Dock Ellis pitch on a transformer atop Tiger Stadium. It’s considered one of the longest homers ever to hit over 500 feet, but the actual distance has been difficult to estimate since the ball returned from the roof and onto the playing field.

The jersey was photo-tagged and received an A10 rating from MEARS.

Other memorabilia from the auction included a 1984-85 rookie Michael Jordan Bulls jersey, a 1994 Michael Jordan Birmingham Barons alternate jersey from the George Koehler collection, a matching photo of player Stephen Curry 2012-13. by MeiGray at four games, and two bundles featuring important articles from Derek Jeter; one from 2008 with a Yankees / Steiner LOA the other from the last season of Jeter in 2009, rated MEARS A10 and photo-tabulated by RGU.
