UND to wear special jerseys for American Hockey Hall of Fame game
NASHVILLE, Tennessee – UND will be wearing special jerseys for the American Hockey Hall of Fame game on Saturday night at Bridgestone Arena.
The jerseys will be green with a special design and a nod to the UND 1994 team.
UND teased the jerseys on social media this week ahead of their clash against Penn State.
Photos show stripes on the arms and eight picks under the collar – one for each of the NCAA National Championships in the program.
UND will also have special warm-up shirts.
“Every time you go to one of these special events you want to have something commemorative to remember,” said UND coach Brad Berry. “It’s just a way to add another layer to what we’re doing here. (UND Equipment Director) Dan Johansson, (Arena General Manager Ralph Engelstad) Jody Hodgson and the UND Sports Department have does an amazing job creating a jersey. We are excited by This is one of those things where once this game is over and that’s history we can come back to it and remember this game through this jersey . “
This will be the first time that UND has created a special game jersey for a destination match.
In Las Vegas, UND wore special swimsuits for warm-ups only.
The Fighting Hawks entered the ice wearing jerseys bearing the inscription “Engelstad” and the number 23 on the back to honor the late benefactor and former player, Ralph Engelstad, who built the UND home site and played the team’s goalie at the start of the program.
Engelstad lived in Las Vegas and his family attended the game.
UND wore green jerseys for the game in Las Vegas. He wore white shirts at home for the New York game against Boston College in 2016.
