Women’s football falls on Rowan on the road

GLASSBORO, NJ – The University of New Jersey City women’s soccer team suffered a 4-0 loss on the road tonight, Wednesday, September 28, against the University’s New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) foe Rowan.

Jersey City rookie goalie (3-4-3, 0-2 NJAC) Lorraine Valenzuela (Bayonne, NJ/Bayonne), fresh off a career-best 13 saves against highly ranked Montclair State University last weekend, made seven more saves tonight against the undefeated Profs (6-0-2, 2-0 NJAC). She stopped Rowan’s first three attempts in the first 20 minutes of the game before the Profs scored the game’s first goal on a rebound in the 20th to make it 1-0.

Four minutes later Rowan scored again to make it 2-0. Valenzuela was tested once more in the first half in the 40th but turned it away to keep the score even. She then made a few more saves in the first eight minutes of the second half before the home side scored 3-0 in the 76th minute. Another stop at the 83rd followed by a count from the professor at the 86th closed it.
